🏆 Congratulations to the 2026 Better Sports Club Award recipients! 🏆
This year marked the 70th Annual Better Sports Club Awards, celebrating outstanding Arlington student-athletes and community members for their achievements, leadership, character, and commitment to others.
A special congratulations to Henry Ge**er, recipient of the George McQuinn Memorial Trophy as Baseball Sportsman of the Year. The award is sponsored by Arlington Cal Ripken Babe Ruth, Arlington Little League, and Arlington Senior Babe Ruth. Henry has been a three-year varsity catcher at Washington-Liberty High School and will continue his baseball career at Gettysburg College this fall.
We’re proud to celebrate Henry and all of this year’s recipients. Your hard work, sportsmanship, and leadership represent the very best of Arlington athletics. 👏⚾

Congratulations, Joseph Black! 🏆
Joseph Black has been named the recipient of the Yorktown 2026 Lou Serpa Award, an honor recognizing a senior player who represents the very best of the game.
ASBR President Mike Murray presented the award to Joseph on Yorktown’s Senior Night, alongside Coach Nick Meyers and Joseph’s parents.
The Lou Serpa Award honors the legacy of Mr. Lou Serpa, who dedicated his life to young players throughout Arlington as a coach, mentor, and teacher. Each year, Yorktown varsity baseball underclassmen vote for a senior who demonstrates respect for the game, respect for umpires, coaches, and teammates, enthusiasm and passion, leadership, encouragement of younger players, and a true understanding of what it means to be part of a team.
Joseph will continue his baseball career at the University of Tennessee this fall, and we couldn’t be prouder to celebrate this well-deserved honor.

The teams are settling in, the plays are getting sharper, and the season is bringing out exactly what we love to see — effort, teamwork, and a whole lot of hustle.

Ready to take your game to the big field? Arlington United Baseball is your next step, providing more opportunities for Arlington players to compete on the 60’/90’ diamond right here at home.
For the 2026–2027 season, Arlington United will field teams at the:
⚾ 13U, 14U, 15U, 16U, and 17U levels
⚾ Multiple travel teams
⚾ ASBR All-Star opportunities for eligible players
📍 All teams based in Arlington
📍 Tryouts held at Tucker Field (Barcroft Park)
🗓 Tryout Dates:
• 13U: April 30 & May 3 (callbacks ~ May 4)
• 14U/15U: May 10 & 11 (callbacks ~ May 14)
• 16U/17U: May 18 (callbacks ~ May 19)
All tryouts will be completed by May 19.

Today we celebrate Jackie Robinson, who broke baseball’s color barrier on April 15, 1947—and changed the game forever.
His courage, strength, and determination paved the way for generations of athletes and reminded us that baseball is at its best when it reflects the values of respect, equality, and opportunity for all.
Today and every day, we honor his legacy.
