Blue Ridge Emmaus is having a Burrito Dinner fundraiser October 7 at Mills River UMC. This to help supplement the cost of Emmaus walks both past and future. The cost of our walks has gone up just as everything else has. The community is trying to make the cost of the walks as reasonable as possible.
These burritos were served on Chrysalis flights and many people are looking forward to enjoying them this weekend. Mack & Sallie Salley have been involved in preparation of this meal for many years and look forward to sharing it with many others October 7.
Attached are several forms with more information about the dinner. Please make your reservation for a meal or for burritos to be eaten for future meals.
We hope Chrysalis members will enjoy and support our Emmaus Community.

A dear Chrysalis friend, Melisa Coates, could use some help. During the flood two weeks ago close to Barnardsville, NC, her family's driveway, culvert, and bridge were wiped out within minutes. Update from Jim Lowe, board Chair

It is with a heavy, sad heart that I must announce the board has voted Nov. 15, 2016 to close our community. We will encourage everyone to begin supporting Mountain Top Chrysalis with our prayers, service and sponsorship. As many of you know, our community helped start MTC and many of you have served both communities. Now we have the opportunity to support our sister community and make it stronger!

We have already shared the reasons which brought us to this decision but here is a summary:

1. We Have Very Little Leadership or Community Support

This is well known. There were around 100 community members at our first crisis meeting, all folks who love Chrysalis and have ALREADY sacrificed for this community. There is not a pool of new leaders. We can blame this on sponsorship, the change in our over committed society, or a new paradigm within church youth groups to provide similar weekends. The time has come to stop asking questions and make decisions.

2. This is a National Crisis

As we have discussed over and over, our local churches as well as the Upper Room who oversees Emmaus and Chrysalis, continues to fight the trend our Chrysalis Communities currently face.

3. We Have Another Chrysalis Community to Join and Support

I have spoken to the board at Mountain Top Chrysalis who welcomes us with open arms and needs our support. If you have served on a team at Mountain Ridge Chrysalis, they will accept you on a team at Mountain Top Chrysalis.

I want to personally thank each of you who have helped us through this process. While this is not the outcome we hoped for, our Heavenly Father knows what is best and we trust HIM to bring good from this to further HIS kingdom.
