Who cares? Gemut.com cares.

In a world of faceless, automated online travel vendors, having a real person on your side when trouble arises just might save your vacation.

Here are three recent customer service situations in which Gemut.com's human involvement saved the day. Please note the names are fictitious:

1. Jones family:

Three rentals were booked and paid for in January…but for the wrong June date. When Gemut.com received the family's flight arrival info, a human saw the error. The mother, Mrs. Jones, who made the three bookings, had set pick-up for the same date as departure from the USA. The family would actually arrive the following day. The bookings had to be changed.
In the process of correcting the date error, one of Gemut.com’s humans discovered that Mrs. Jones used her own credit card to reserve all three bookings. This may be a problem. We explained that each principal driver had to present a credit card in his or her own name or be denied the reserved vehicle. Also, even if accepted by the rental company, Mrs. Jones’ credit card offers CDW/theft insurance only if she is the principal driver, no other person.
Fortunately Gemut.com was able to re-book all three rentals, at LOWER RATES, for the correct date using credit cards in the drivers’ names. The process of working with four different customers, three bookings, and three credit cards, involved multiple emails and phone calls.

2. Ms. Mary Smith:

Ms. Smith contacted Gemut.com via text and email from JFK Airport a few hours before her flight. She had mistakenly left her driver’s license at home. Gemut.com called the client and suggested the best solution was to create a new reservation in the name of her travel partner.
Though the new rental was a bit more expensive due to the last-minute booking, the couple boarded their international flight knowing all would be well when they arrived at the rental desk. Major crisis averted with one phone call!

3. Mr. James Johnson:

At the Dollar rental desk in Tampa, Mr. Johnson was offered “refueling” at $3.95/gallon. This was not presented as “pre-paid” fuel. The client decided to return the car with a full tank thinking there would be no charge. However, Dollar charged a fee of $53.14 despite returning a full fuel tank. Gemut.com appealed to Dollar for a refund of the erroneous fuel charge and the request was honored. Based on Gemut.com's knowledge of online car rental sellers, had Mr. Johnson booked his car with, say, Booking.com or Expedia, it is unlikely those agencies would have requested the refund, but Gemut.com cares!
