This Black History Month, I’ve been reflecting on the legacy of Shirley Chisholm, a trailblazer who reminded us that if there’s no seat at the table, you bring your own.
For the past 20 years, I’ve walked into many spaces where decisions were being made about our community. Sometimes I was invited, sometimes I wasn’t... but I showed up anyway, because our voices matter.
That same commitment is why I chose to run. Leadership isn’t about waiting for permission; it’s about stepping forward to serve.
