The Next Generation Trumpet Competition is an online, new music trumpet competition.
Spend a few moments reading about and celebrating Calvin Godfrey, the 2nd Prize Winner of the 2024 Next Generation Trumpet Competition!
Calvin Godfrey (Chantilly, VA), a Virginia native, completed his undergrad at Virginia Tech where he was awarded a degree in computer science and a degree in mathematics while studying trumpet with Dr. Jason Crafton. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with Dr. Garrett Klein. Calvin is an active freelancer and has been asked to sub in organizations including the North Carolina Brass Band and Charlotte Symphony.

Please join us in congratulating Denis Zisko (Germany) on winning First Prize for NGTC 2024, and Calvin Godfrey (United States), on winning Second Prize!
These two trumpet artists performed with conviction, made bold, musical decisions and showcased convincing control over the instrument - we will be featuring them each separately in the coming days, sharing some of their performances and highlighting their story so far. They each will be receiving a cash prize and certificate.
Congratulations to all who participated in NGTC 2024, we are more than a competition. 🎺
