Not every booking is the right booking and most hosts learn that the hard way. 🌿
Over time, we’ve noticed a few early signs that are worth paying attention to before accepting a reservation:
1️⃣ Vague or incomplete messages
If a guest avoids sharing basic details about their stay (who’s coming, purpose of the trip, etc) it can be a sign they’re not fully transparent. Clear communication from the start usually leads to smoother stays.
2️⃣ Pushing for off-platform communication or payment
This is a big one. Guests asking to move conversations or payments outside Airbnb remove the protection both sides have. It’s always safer to keep everything on-platform.
3️⃣ Last-minute bookings with unusual requests
Not all last-minute bookings are bad, but when paired with things like extra guests, events, or unclear plans, it’s worth slowing down and asking more questions.
4️⃣ Ignoring house rules upfront
If a guest is already asking to bend rules before they even check in, it’s often a preview of how the stay might go. Respect for the space starts early.
From our experience as co-hosts, screening isn’t about saying “no” it’s about setting the right expectations. We take time to review profiles, ask the right follow-up questions, and make sure the stay is a good fit for both sides.
Because at the end of the day, the goal isn’t just bookings, it’s the right bookings. ✨ Have you ever had a booking that didn’t feel right from the start? 👇🏿
