John has returned from his pursuit of Brazilian Peacock Bass and what a journey it was.

A houseboat expedition traveled over 250 miles up the Amazon River and its remote tributaries, placing him deep in true wilderness, the heart of peacock bass country.

Six unforgettable days fishing with Peacock Fishing & Adventures and guide Eduardo Crespo meant long days on the water — often 100 casts a day, many stretching 50–70 feet from a skiff.

And the wildlife? Just as breathtaking as the fishing.
Macaws overhead.
Caiman along the banks.
River dolphins rolling nearby.
And yes… plenty of piranha.

There was one full day of drenching rainforest rain — the kind that reminds you why it’s called the rainforest — but even then, the peacock bass were still willing to eat.
