Two months after losing 16-year-old Tianah Robinson, the teens, who can relate to her best didn’t ask for more security cameras. They asked for a peace park.

On Friday, 200 young people from the Play4PeaceATL Youth Peace Summit gathered at Piedmont Park — the same park where Atlanta lost her — and chanted “Peach state to a peace state” until it meant something different than it did before.

For three weeks, these teens sat through peace education, STEAM programming, and hard conversations about conflict across 10 hotspots and 30+ partner organizations. Then they stood in that park and asked Georgia to make it official: Piedmont Park as the state’s first declared peace park, in Tianah’s name.

14-year-old Raygan Brown said it best — her generation has a reputation problem, and this is them rewriting it.

This is what Beloved Community looks like when teenagers build it themselves. We are Better Together — and we’re not done yet.

What an amazing ‘Better Together’ fireside conversation held this past Saturday at the Yolanda D. King Theatre for Performing Arts in partnership with HWPL Georgia featuring CEO, Dr. Bernice A. King. and moderated by Dr. Vonnetta L. West, King Center Senior Nonviolence Trainer & Instructor on the topic of nonviolence, faith, peace building, and more.

If we all explore how faith and nonviolence can equip or inspire us to reach healing, true peace (which includes justice), and authentic reconciliation we’ll be one step closer to true change!
