This Nurses Week, we celebrate the heart of Grady through the story of Lillie Mae Bynum, a proud graduate of the Grady School of Nursing who just turned 100.

For generations, Grady nurses have cared for Atlanta through its hardest moments and happiest ones, too. Lillie Mae is part of that legacy. A legacy built on compassion, strength, sacrifice, and showing up when people need you most.

Our alums remind us of the nurses who came before us, the ones who helped shape Grady’s legacy of caring for this city with skill, heart, and humanity.

To Lillie Mae and to every Grady nurse who has carried this legacy forward, thank you for caring for Atlanta like it’s your own. 💙

Do something positive and productive every day. That’s what one patient chose to write the first time he picked up a pen after his spinal cord injury.

With the support of Occupational Therapist Margo Shainberg, who advocated for his rehab and stayed connected through his recovery, this moment became a powerful reminder of what healing can look like.

“Watching him write for the first time perfectly highlights the impact occupational therapy has on people’s lives,” Margo shared.

And we couldn’t agree more. 💙
