materials (mostly all-inclusive): alcohol ink, india ink, acrylic paint, wax crayon, charcoal, marker, tape, glitter, and gel pen on 8x10 canvas panels

after the snow stops
and the sun returns,
high above our little world

after the ice melts off banisters,
off tree branches and
into the dirt,
into the concrete

when the world is no longer doused
in crystal white

there is yet a patch outside my window

swaddled in shadow,
stricken by wind

it will be weeks now before the water inside
feels the warmth of the earth,
again
again
again
