Should you have walls around your heart?
Of course you should.
I think a lot of well-meaning people say things like “let down the walls”. That’s half of the truth. Often people get so overloaded with pain they decide “I shouldn’t let anything in” and those folks should learn to let down their guard sometimes.
There are other people who say “I’m not worth guarding. I deserve whatever comes my way.” Or worse, “God will be mad at me if I draw a boundary in this relationship. That’s not compassionate.”
You’re worth kindness and not everyone gets to have your treasures. Only some.
“Do not cast your pearls before swine,” said Jesus. And he was the master of both vulnerability and boundaries.

But this is just one woman I know.
