On June 13 PCED applied for a U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) Grant for the construction of a new sewer line that could serve as many as eighteen businesses in the Sunnyland Industrial Park in Hiram. The grant will specifically benefit two companies that PCED has been assisting with their expansion needs. With the extension of sewer these companies will be able to grow their operations in Paulding by creating at least 24 new jobs and retaining 65 current jobs. PCED will be notified in September of EDA's decision on awarding the grant.

Great news! Northwest Georgia has been named one of 12 communities nationwide designated as a Manufacturing Community. The U.S. Commerce Department-led program is designed to accelerate the resurgence of manufacturing in communities nationwide by supporting the development of long-term economic development strategies that help communities attract and expand private investment in the manufacturing sector and increase international trade and exports.
This is huge for Paulding County as we work to bring more manufacturing jobs to our community. Congratulations to the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission and their Chairman David Austin for successfully leading this effort which will result in Paulding having access to a number of incentive programs to secure new businesses here and assist existing industry with their expansions.
