Lesson #1 - Don't believe the insurance claims representative that tells you there is only a single limit $500,000 liability insurance policy. Why? I recently heard a story about a seriously injured gentlemen accepting $200,000 for his injuries after being told that the only insurance available was a single limit $500,000 policy. There were several other injured people involved in the wreck and and he decided that he would "leave the remaining $300,000 for them for their compensation." Guess what? The other victims got lawyers and sued. During the course of that litigation, it was disclosed for the first time that there was a $1,000,000 umbrella policy. My advice? Hire, or least confer with, a qualified, reputable and experienced personal injury lawyer if you or a loved one are seriously injured.
Fellow attorney's new client just received a voicemail from an Allstate adjuster who stated that getting an attorney "would not make a difference and that client would get less money because she would have to pay her attorney". Adjuster also said "Allstate makes the same offers whether or not client has an attorney." If you believe the above referenced statements, I have a bridge I would like to sell to you in Brooklyn. No . . . really.

Facebook Strikes Again . . . this lawyer and his client were just a little too cavalier with the discovery and ethical rules and it cost them dearly. Remember that the truth will set you free . . . .
Facebook Spoliation Costs Widower and His Attorney $700K in Sanctions When a tipster sent us an e-mail with the subject, “Court awards $700,000+ in sanctions for destruction of FB page,” I thought it sounded like it might be interesting. Because hey, that’s a lot of money. I didn’t realize it would also be one of the most depressing legal news stories I’ve read since ...
Joke of the Day:
A minister told his congregation, "Next week I plan to preach about the sin of lying. To help you understand my sermon, I want you all to read Mark 17.”
The following Sunday, as he prepared to deliver his sermon, the minister asked for a show of hands. He asked how many read Mark 17. Nearly every hand went up. The minister smiled and said, “Since Mark only has 16 chapters, I will now proceed with my sermon on the sin of lying."
