The Gwinnett District Attorney’s Office mourns the loss of Gwinnett Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Deborah R. Fluker, who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

Judge Fluker served with unwavering integrity, a deep knowledge of the law, and a steadfast commitment to fairness for all. She held legal professionals in her courtroom to a higher standard, making them better for it.

Even during her illness, she remained dedicated to the bench, reflecting remarkable strength and devotion to justice.

She was held in the highest regard by this Office and the broader legal community. Judge Fluker’s legacy of dignity, fairness, and service will endure, and she will be deeply missed.

Patsy Austin-Gatson is a public servant with an informal, easygoing manner. And like countless other Black parents, she has emphatically had “the talk” with each of her three children about how to interact with law enforcement to avoid police brutality and incarceration.

As district attorney of Gwinnett County, she takes this same messaging to the community through a variety of youth-oriented programs, designed to demystify the law ― and extend a helping hand ― to the kids on the corner who are tempted by trouble.
