📢 Need a Copy of Your Tax Return? Here’s What to Do.
If your previous tax preparer is not providing you with a copy of your filed tax return, don’t panic — you still have options.
You can request your tax return directly from the IRS using Form 4506 – Request for Copy of Tax Return.
Here’s what you should know:
✅ Form 4506 allows you to request a full copy of your previously filed tax return.
📬 The IRS will mail the copy directly to you.
💵 There is a fee charged by the IRS for each year requested (currently $43 per return).
⏳ Processing can take several weeks.
If you do not need a full copy and only need income verification, you may request a free transcript instead using Form 4506-T or by visiting IRS.gov and using the “Get Transcript” tool.
🔎 When might you need Form 4506? • Mortgage applications
• Financial aid verification
• Legal matters
• When a preparer will not release your return
• Rebuilding personal tax records
Remember — you have a right to access your own tax records.
If you need help completing Form 4506 or determining which option is best for you, feel free to message us.

📢 PATH ACT REFUND UPDATE (EITC & ACTC Filers)
If you claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC), your refund is subject to the federal PATH Act hold.
What does that mean?
By law, the IRS cannot release these refunds before mid-February — even if you filed early.
🗓 PATH Act Timeline
✔ IRS begins accepting returns: Late January
✔ PATH Act hold lifts: Around February 15
✔ Refunds begin processing for release: Shortly after February 15
✔ Most direct deposits appear: Late February into early March
⚠️ Remember: “Where’s My Refund” may update before funds hit your bank. Processing times depend on: • Direct deposit vs. check
• Bank processing times
• Accuracy of return
• IRS verification reviews
This delay is not an audit. It is a federally mandated fraud prevention measure under the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act.
If you claimed EITC or ACTC, patience is part of the process.
