2ND LINE ATLANTA BAND has over 20 years experience performing NEW ORLEANS SECOND LINE MUSIC and JAZZ.

We personify the unique musical sounds of the City of New Orleans, a music considered the foundation for traditional Jazz and Dixieland.

2nd Line Atlanta is at the forefront of the New Orleans Brass Band renaissance! Our traditional New Orleans style second line band is able to play in almost any setting from festival stages to grand ballrooms; riverboats to city streets.

From complete second line brass band to solo musician, 2nd Line Atlanta musicians provide New Orleans Jazz, Blues, Cajun and Zydeco music for wedding ceremonies, receptions, prelude and postlude.

A popular tradition during New Orleans weddings is the second line parade.

A brass band leads the bridal party and guests from church to reception. The newly married couple, holding decorated umbrellas or parasols, lead the second line. Guests wanting to join in the celebration form a line behind the band and married couple, dancing and strutting to the music with umbrellas or parasols and handkerchiefs or cocktail napkins!

TRUMPET, TROMBONE, SAXOPHONE, TUBA, BASS DRUM SNARE DRUM, UPRIGHT BASS!

Improvisation and funked-up modern pop sets a soundtrack for SECOND LINE PARTIES.

Parade visitors from hotels to other destinations in New Orleans style. 2nd Line Atlanta can parade through the ball room in the New Orleans colorful second line tradition or stroll your hall or reception.

Handkerchiefs, parasols and feathered fans wave in the air. A brass band blares classic New Orleans tunes. Costumed characters and dancers in colorful clothing buck jump and dance. Entire neighborhoods stand on porches cheering and along and join in the parade with all its thumping, syncopated, feet-moving glory. A second line, by its very nature, invites crowd participation!

Second line with us in the streets as is New Orleans tradition!

We second-line for any celebration. We can perform on stage at receptions and also provide small jazz combos for hospitality suites or intimate settings. Whether a small gathering of friends, or a large corporate event, 2nd Line Atlanta will create an experience you and your guests will never forget!

Second Line Funerals and Wakes

Second Line reminds the living that there is rejoicing even in death. The deceased has left the pain of this life and gone on to a better place.

As the funeral comes to a close at the cemetery, the Second Line begins. The band begins to play an upbeat tempo with a tune, possibly hymn, and the Second Line begins to form.

The Main Line breaks out into a lively waving of handkerchiefs. The handkerchiefs, carried for sobbing over the loved one are now waved in the air.
The umbrella, carried for protection from the sun, becomes a festive symbol.
Exuberance is sensed within the parade of Second Liners, permeating and influencing those passerby's.


The passionate joy grows into a frenzied ecstasy of happiness within the crowd of Second Liners. This brief time of elation for mourners will help carry them through difficult days of grief ahead.

2nd Line Atlanta continues the second line tradition as a means of celebrating the life of loved ones with class and dignity.
