The Armand Park Rain Garden is complete! ILD’s owner (designer of the park/garden), Patrick Hand, got his hands dirty at a recent planting event. There was a huge turnout with some neighbors even adding plants from their own yards! As a grand finale, the fire department released water for the inaugural “flood” into the garden. It was a great day for everyone involved!

Sara J. Gonzalez Memorial Park is the first park in Georgia to honor a Hispanic citizen and serves as a monument to her role as a pillar of Georgia’s Latin community. The park is centered around the elements of community, diversity, unity and family, which were at the core of Gonzalez’s work. Along with and community partners including , and Sara’s daughter, , we designed a park built for inclusive play and inspiration. With elements such as affirmations engraved in stone, a first-of-it’s-kind learning nook, an upcoming soccer field and the addition of an ethnobotanical memorial garden, the park furthers Gonzalez’s legacy of building community and enhancing the lives of those within it.
