We're Pro Mom, Pro Baby, Pro Abundant Life 10/31/2025

An open letter to Pro-Life Clinics / Pregnancy Resource Centers and the Churches that support them:

I get the temptation to keep doing things the same way you’ve always done them. After all, what you’re able to do for mom’s by offering free ultrasounds and blankets, bottles, buggies etc. as well as lending a caring and compassionate ear, does show mom’s love and compassion. Furthermore, because it gives you some stories to share with donors, it does pay the bills and keeps your doors open.

However, good is often the enemy of great and I fear that one day the Lord will ask all of us in the pro life movement, “Why did you stop short of what I wanted from you?” Ultimately I believe he’s gonna ask us and our local churches, “Why didn’t you offer mom‘s tempted by abortion, especially those living at or below the poverty line, who are stuck in cyclical, generational patterns of destruction, a legitimate path towards the new life in the new kingdom?”

Now I’m fully aware that it takes both of us, our clinics and local churches to make this work. Neither can do it alone. But I will tell you this, you being the experts, the ones who've been on the front lines of this crisis, are the only ones who can speak prophetically and authoritatively, that what we’ve been doing, hasn’t changed any significant number of minds. Church leaders need…no, must hear that from you.

Yes, you can remain silent and just keep doing what you’re doing, receiving the financial and volunteer support of your local churches, but the Lord knows you’re playing it safe and so is the church and safety will never return us to the culture changing force we, the church, once were.

So you have a decision to make. You can dismiss this letter and turn your nose up at the strategy ( https://promomprobaby.org/our-strategy/ )God has always used to change cultures or you can choose to courageously speak with your local church leaders about why we’re falling short. It’s up to you.

Praying you choose the latter,
Greg Clemens

If God's people would do a better job of putting ourselves in the shoes of moms living at or below the poverty line, who make up over 500,000 abortions every year, we would realize our current approach will never change a significant number of minds.

This is a gospel issue. We can't just offer free ultrasounds, bottles, blankets and brochures listing helpful nonprofits. God made them for a new life in a new kingdom. If we can't intentionally and effectively connect them to a community where they can personally experience this new kingdom, namely a small group of people who will love and lead them into that life, we will never see His kingdom come on abortion.

We had a back-and-forth yesterday with a pro life clinic, director, and leader in the pro-life movement in Mississippi.

There is a popular sentiment among these leaders that has deceived them for decades. They believe sharing the message of the gospel, specifically the path to salvation, is the gospel. What they fail to understand and what undermines all that they’re trying to achieve is, the gospel in full, was and is also the declaration of a kingdom come where you could experience, grace, truth, forgiveness, unconditional, love, mercy, justice, purpose, a place where you could have your sense of belonging restored. That is the full gospel and it can only be experienced within a gathering of the church.

That misunderstanding is the great tragedy in the church’s response to abortion. We, (church and pro-life leaders) continue to fail to recognize the influential power of a legitimate offer of the complete gospel message to a mom tempted by abortion, who is stuck in cyclical patterns of destruction. We fail to recognize it because in a culturally driven emphasis on the Sunday morning service, we fail to experience personally the beauty of the kind of fellowships Jesus had in mind for us.

Therefore:
To you pastors, those who have accepted the unbiblical title of senior pastor / teacher/ strategist…whatever, who have failed to work with clinics to create effective bridges that connect these moms to your people, who have not publicly proclaimed this message to moms far and wide, who do you think God will judge?
To you clinic directors, who have continued to promote the lie to your donors, to the body of Christ, that what you are doing for moms is effective, that offering free ultrasounds, blankets, bottles and brochures to helpful nonprofits, that it changes their minds in any significant way and then continue to pat yourselves on the back… who do you think God will judge?

To all of us in America, who claim to be Christ followers yet will not take his yolk upon us, who will not pick up our crosses, but instead continue to cling to our comfort and security, who use our blessings to bless ourselves, who isolate ourselves from a lost world, who never engage it in any meaningful way, but instead rely on political influence and law, who do you think God will judge?

Brothers and sisters, when Jesus says it is difficult for the rich to enter the kingdom of heaven we as a people who have a roof over our heads, heat and A/C, own cars, readily available food, free education, take vacations, etc, etc, must certainly consider ourselves to be in that number. “So then, be careful how you walk, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.” Eph. 5:15,16
