Growing up in rural Mississippi, I recall vivid memories of identical twin brothers, Walter and Kelly, who resided nearby. As young adult men, they led industrious lives during the week, but their leisure time on weekends often involved drunken revelry.
Their weekend strolls along our gravel road frequently brought them to our doorstep. My energetic dog, Snowball, would captivate them with an impressive trick: catching pebbles in mid-air and performing acrobatic flips. Walter and Kelly's fascination with Snowball's agility would keep them enthralled until either Snowball grew weary or my father encouraged them to move along.
Decades have passed since our last encounter, but this recent painting, “Cheap Whiskey”, has revitalized these childhood memories, eerily capturing the likeness of the twin brothers.
