‼️ Subaru Update! 🚗

I finally picked up the Subaru and so far…

things are looking MUCH better. 🙌

For those who missed the saga, what started as a P0300 code, sputtering, hesitation, and loss of power turned into a bit of an adventure. I even ordered the wrong coils the first time (thanks, Amazon 😅), which added an unexpected expense to an already tight budget.

The good news? The new valve cover gaskets, plugs and coils seem to have done the trick….. so far as I can tell. 🙏

The car is accelerating much better, the sputtering appears to be gone, and one thing I noticed immediately is that it’s idling much lower and smoother than before.

I’ve only driven it a short distance so far, so the real test will be getting it out on the freeway and putting some delivery miles on it over the next few days. But for the first time in a while, I’m feeling cautiously optimistic.🎉

Considering all the worst-case scenarios running through my head, I’ll happily take a repair bill over needing an engine. 😅

I’ll give a final update on this chapter Monday after I’ve spent the next three days delivering and putting it through its paces. Praying there is absolutely nothing to report before then! 😂🙏

🚗 Car Update…

Well, what I was afraid might happen… happened.

To save some money, I ordered my own parts from Amazon. I entered my vehicle information to make sure they were supposed to fit, and before taking the car to the shop, I even stopped by and asked the service advisor if the mechanic could verify that I had the correct parts.

I explained that I didn’t want them tearing the car apart only to discover the parts were wrong. He told me they couldn’t really go by a picture of the part, so I asked if they could at least check the part numbers. The answer was basically the same.

Sure enough, they called yesterday with bad news.

The ignition coils weren’t the right coils… even though Amazon said they would fit. 🤦🏻‍♀️

To make matters more interesting, I had purchased all the parts using Affirm because cash is pretty tight right now. Since I need the rest of my available credit to cover the actual repair bill, I ended up having to pay cash for another set of coils.

The good news is the correct ones are out for delivery today. The bad news is it’s getting pretty late, and since they still haven’t arrived, it’s looking like tomorrow morning before I can take them to the shop.

That also means another Uber ride and another day of waiting.

At this point, all I can do is laugh, shake my head, and remind myself that sometimes “saving money” ends up costing a little more than planned. 😅

Hopefully tomorrow is finally the day the Subaru gets put back together and back on the road running like a champ! 🙏
