Today marks the anniversary of one of the hardest days for many Sandy Creek families. We remember the devastating flooding that swept through Northwest Travis County and honor the resilience of our neighbors as they continue to recover and rebuild together.

Stay mosquito aware, Travis County! Austin Public Health says that mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile virus in our community.

As the summer season continues, it's a good reminder to protect yourself and your family from mosquito-borne illnesses like West Nile virus. Wear EPA-approved insect repellent, eliminate standing water around your home, and cover up when spending time outdoors.

Fireworks are only allowed in unincorporated areas (outside city limits) of Travis County, and even in those areas, you can’t shoot off fireworks:

🚫 Within 600 feet of schools, churches, or hospitals
🚫 In Travis County Parks
🚫 On public roads

The safest way to celebrate is to go to a professional fireworks show! Celebrate responsibly!
