When I found the sport of running, it was the first time I discovered I could have a purpose and that I could matter. But as I reached the NCAA Division 1 level, and in the wake of experiencing sexual violence, I felt the devastating loss of my Sparkle. I walked away from the sport for years, something that is not uncommon in the world of women’s sports. ⁣
