Austin is nearly 200 years old and with all that history, legends and myths are bound to arise.
We dove into our favorite Austin lore on the podcast this week and talked about secret tunnels, Elvis Presley, volcanos, and, of course, what happened to the first Bevo at The University of Texas at Austin.

A mini Luby’s Cafeteria with pared-down options opened in downtown Austin over the summer. We followed the restaurant’s fried fish bat signal and visited for a LuAnn Platter to see if the mini held up to our memories of the regular-sized Luby’s Cafeterias.
Spoiler alert: it was delicious as always and is definitely worth a visit!
Read more at the link in our bio and comment below if you’ve made the pilgrimage to the mini Luby’s!

Prop Q isn’t the only thing on the ballot (we see you, 17 constitutional amendments), but it’s certainly the thing everyone’s talking about. This week, published a fab voters guide in Hey Austin and interviewed guests on both sides of the tax rate increase: Councilmember José “Chito” Vela for the pro side and Zilker Neighborhood Association’s Robin Rather for the anti. Links in our bio for all the things you need to get out there and VOTE! Polls are open now through Halloween, and again on 11/4.
PS send us your “I voted” selfie so we can post them and give other Austinites voting FOMO

Austin has literally grown up around ACL Fest since it debuted in 2002…but one band on the schedule has remained the same. In today’s episode, hear from Ray Benson about what it’s like to open the fest every year, and from local band The Animeros, fresh off their festival debut. What do Austin’s musicians get out of the fest? And how do they even make it onto the schedule? Hear it all at the link in our bio.
