Our Austin Money Coach has found that unless the plan is easy to set up and use, automated and created with the client’s involvement, it will not have a great success rate.

Together, we determine your Net Worth, set up an Emergency and Survival Fund, review your banking accounts and credit card and school debts, if any, create a personalized, month Budget, plan for future expenses and help you get out of the debt using the Snowball Debt Repayment Program. Our Austin Financial Coach will also briefly explain social security and give you an idea of how well you are doing saving for retirement.

If you have a spouse, partner or someone who shares your financial obligations, it would be great if they attended as well. Family personal finances is a Team Sport!

How to Control Your Spending During the 2025 Holiday Season

Many of our clients ask how they can control spending during the 2025 holiday season. Our Austin Financial Coach says there is only way to control spending: Create a spending plan.

Capital Budget Strategies LLC, Austin’s best Financial Coach, meets with clients each Fall who are still paying off credit card debt from last year’s holiday gift buying. That is stressful and very expensive with credit cards charging 18%+ in interest on outstanding balances.

Our plan is simple, but you must stick to it. First, write down the names of people you will be buying a gift. Second, figure out exactly how much you can spend in total this year and not go into debt. Finally, decide how much of your available cash you will spend on each person.

Sounds simple, but it takes a strong will sometimes.

For example: Amount of funds available to purchase gifts: $500

Create a list of people you want to purchase a gift. As an example: Grandma, Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister, Spouse and child. A total of 7 people or $71 each. Using a chart, you can divide up the $500 any way you want, but do not spend more than $500. Therefore, you can spend $50 on Grandma, $10 on your brother, $100 on your spouse, etc. But the total cannot exceed $500. (see attached chart)
