I’m on my way home from a true trip of a lifetime to Morocco with NextTribe and 13 amazing women. As I told them on our final night, I thought Morocco was on my bucket list because I wanted to see all the beautiful tile, but I discovered so many things I never knew were on my bucket list, including meeting some wonderful Berbers in a village in the Atlas Mountains, and our amazing local tour guide, Mhamed, and our driver, who both took the absolute best care of us. We experienced the souks (markets) in the old city of Marrakech (cobra snakes, monkeys, spices, djallabas), and pottery making, upscale shopping in the new city, amazing food (every tajine dish imaginable including ones we made ourselves), wood-fired breads, and mint green tea hospitably served to us by everyone, and hammams (Google it - unbelievable! My skin has never been so soft!) We wore traditional scarves while traveling on camels to the most incredible glamping tent experience at Camp Madu with traditional music of drums and metal castanets called gnawas in the orange-brown sand dunes of the Sahara desert (including some “sandboarding”), shared bread and tea with a beautiful family of Berber nomads who had three precious young girls who stayed in one place for only two months at a time. This is probably only 1/4 of the things we did that helped put life in perspective about what matters. Thanks to Jeannie Ralston, founder of NextTribe, for envisioning not only this amazing group of like-minded women, but also for curating this life-changing trip. And, a special shout-out to my roommate bestie, Lucie Frost, for always keeping me on schedule and being my personal IT professional! And love to my other fellow travelers — Delcy (who, along with Lucie, was on my Nexttribe Paris trip last year), Alina, Katie, Suzanne, Peggy, Barbie, Vanessa, Joy, Dawn, MaryLou, and Babs. Just WOW!
