Mark your calendar for March 10. A night of Indie rock on the beautiful rooftop of Shiner's Saloon.

First off, I want to say thank you for Daniel Johnston and for his art and his story. Happy Birthday Daniel! All of us in the band respect his work and we're impacted by covering this song. If you are not familiar with Daniel, I highly recommend checking out the documentary, The Devil and Daniel Johnston. You can also check out his entire collection on band camp.

This release is landing not only on Daniel Johnson's birthday, but to celebrate here in Austin and other cities. Hi, How Are You Day. I encourage you to check out the Hi, How are you project.

I want to give a shout out to the band including Mark Heaps, Jack Schultz, and Mike Hall, who played mandolin, upright bass, and drums respectively. Jack also played slide guitar. We put this project together in less than a month from demo to final masters! It introduced a lot of spontaneity to the final product but everyone was behind the heart of it and the result is beautiful. Thank you for juggling crazy adult schedules while making this music.

Shout out to Josh Wolfer who let us borrow some sweet microphones to add unique color to this piece.

Shout to Steve Glaze at Tone Freq studios for always nailing the mozworth sound and bringing finishing touches to Story of an Artist.

A few comments on the release. It's the very first release featuring Mike Hall, our new drummer. When we shared the demo out, it was Mike's idea to take this arrangement in a Beatles direction. Everybody jumped on board and the result was something special. This release is very different from our previous Sandpiper release and will be different from what comes next, but I love that our band has this kind of range and hunger to be creative where we can be. It is also fitting to honor Daniel by playing his music in the style of his heroes.

As for what is ahead for mozworth in 2026 we are writing a new album, playing SXSW, and scheduling more shows for 2026. Booking at [email protected].
