The last post I made was a furlough post. During that furlough, my husband and I had to make the hardest decision we’ve ever had to make.

The one strange thing at first was vacuuming the house. The floors were always covered with her fur, so we would vacuum constantly. And even when we had it all clean, we would find another Ally-dust bunny lurking in a spot we missed. After she was gone, the vacuuming became less frequent. But there was one tuft of fur that she left behind in our bedroom that was perfect. I cried as I held it and instead of throwing it out, I set it on our night stand. My husband and I had an unspoken rule to not move it.

I’ve found that in times of loss, I try to find ways to memorialize my loved one. I made a rainbow bridge ornament for our Christmas tree. I have been trying to brainstorm the perfect tattoo for her. Just anything to keep her close. Finally, today, I finished the case to hold that perfect tuft of fur. I set it on top of her urn on the mantel. Maybe it’s weird, but it’s nice to have her around still.

It's been awhile! Why? Because life happens, and these past few months have been hectic to say the least.
