At Nyankanda Refugee Camp in Burundi, refugee children deserve more than a safe place to wait; they deserve a safe place to grow.

That’s why World Relief Burundi partnered with the Big Joy Foundation to strengthen the camp’s Early Childhood Development center: adding a new classroom, kitchen, sanitation facilities, and essential equipment to create a healthier, more dignified environment where children can learn, play, and thrive.

This transformation has been sustained through something powerful: church partnership. Throughout the project, local church networks worked alongside World Relief and camp leadership to monitor progress – building trust, accountability and local ownership that helps this investment last.

As local Pastor Serges shared: “We consider these buildings a precious legacy for our children and a true sign of hope for the entire Nyankanda community.”

Hundreds of thousands of Haitian and Syrian Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders are losing protection from deportation.

For Haitian TPS holders, Congress has a clear path forward. A bill to preserve TPS protections for Haitians has already passed the House. Now, the Senate must act.

If TPS protections are not preserved, families could be torn apart. We are especially concerned for the estimated 50,000 U.S. citizen children who could be separated from one or both parents if Haitian TPS holders are deported.

The contradiction is clear: Haitian parents are being told to return to Haiti, while the U.S. State Department is telling U.S. citizens not to travel there.

Children should not have to choose between their country and their parents.
