While the severe weather risk looks to be behind us as of 8pm Sunday evening, a cold front will pass across Maine with more rain and even a few downpours and storms overnight into Monday morning. This will result in an increased risk of flash flooding across Northern and Western Maine. Avoid driving through water, especially moving water. As the saying goes: "Turn around, don't drown." Be safe tonight. We have much drier and nicer weather starting Monday afternoon.

EXPIRED:

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for southwestern Piscataquis County until 4:15pm. The storm is located over Kingsbury Plantation as of 3:35pm, moving east at 30 mph. 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail are possible! Expect damage to trees and power lines! Impacted towns include Dover-Foxcroft, Guilford, Milo, Brownville, & more.

Today contains the risk of strong to severe storms which look possible to develop across Northern and Western Maine to about the interstate. The severe weather threat will last between 2-9pm this afternoon & evening. The biggest risks with any severe weather will be the strong and potentially damaging winds, as well as the heavy rain and torrential downpours which could produce some flash flooding. A slim risk of smaller sized hail and an isolated tornado are also possible, but less likely.

I have a very details and indepth forecast discussion which can be found at: wabi.tv/weather

I suggest giving it a read to know specific details about the severe weather set up and how that may impact you.

Good morning, and happy Sunday everyone!

If you are tired of the heat and humidity, you are in luck! We will not only cool down with highs in the 70s for most this upcoming week, but dewpoints will also drop into the comfy to dry category Monday through at least Thursday! Enjoy!

Tonight will be partly to mostly clear with a few cloudy spots possible. Fog is expected to develop again, most likely along the coast, with dewpoints remaining sticky in spots. A few showers are even possible across Northern locations by sunrise. Low temps will vary from the upper 40s to low 60s with WSW gusts remaining light, reaching 15 mph.

Nice and warm this evening with plenty of sunshine! However, those dewpoints to the east are looking quite humid!

The coast is hanging onto the fog this morning while most inland locations have cleared up with sunshine developing!

After cloud cover and fog for many this morning, sunshine should develop for just about all of us with mostly to completely sunny skies this afternoon. However, due to all the energy and moisture in the atmosphere, combined with a frontal system stalling over Northern Maine, a few pop-up showers and storms are possible in the afternoon up in the County. The rest of us should be rain free. High temps will reach their warmest of the coming week, from the upper 60s to upper 80s. Dewpoints will be sticky to humid in the mid 60s for many. NW/SSW gusts will be a little breezy, reaching 20-25 mph. A reminder that while it is very warm outside, the ocean and most bodies of water are still quite cold, so be safe and understand the risks of cold water if you plan to go in!

On Thursday, my dad and I summited North Brother Mountain in Baxter State Park! It was a tough but awesome and remote hike, with spectacular 360 degree views at the summit. I will say the black flies at the summit were awful. In the photo of me at the sign, you can see them all around me. Yuck. While hiking, we ran into two pine martens and several toads, squirrels, and all types of birds! And to top it off, while driving from the trailhead to our camp for the night, we ran into a moose! No photos since I was driving but that was awesome!

North Brother has an elevation of 4,151 feet, marking my 6th 4,000+ foot peak in Maine! Many more to come soon! My list in chronological order and by the number of summits:

Mt. Abraham ✅
