This precious baby girl was born yesterday! Her parents and siblings all have Grateful Dead song names, so we are working on the best name that fits her.

The winter storm that has enveloped most of the country has been awful. There are many areas that are still without power, with thick sheets of ice covering homes, power lines and roadways. I worry about every person and animal trying to survive. We have put out fresh water for the birds and ducks since the pond is frozen. We have put out food since they are desperately trying to get to the ground and cannot get through the ice. We have provided crates to bring animals inside, including goats, chickens and pigs for those that were willing. We have provided straw for livestock that had to stay outside. We only did a small part to help, but every little bit helped. The number of animals that are still outside, on chains and if they are lucky, a barrel for warmth. Sadly, I am surrounded by animals left in these conditions. We still have very cold weather coming and possibly more snow in the forecast. It saddens me to see the very same people that leave their animals to survive like this, are the same people that accuse others of wrongdoing, take advantage of people whenever possible and make terrible decisions at the expense others. Please treat others the way you wish to be treated, live right and most of all take care of those that cannot take care of themselves. I encourage you to help whenever possible. Be better. Do better.
