We'd like to invite fans of Catalyst's page to ask questions about background screening. Please feel free to post your question publicly here on the page, and we will respond accordingly.


For example: "What kinds of negative information can be included on my background check report?"

Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), negative information usually cannot be reported after 7 years. Exceptions apply for bankruptcies (10 years) and jobs or insurance policies over a certain dollar amount. Specifically, in states where the FCRA is the sole governing policy, a job paying $75k or more annually gives researchers greater reporting flexibility. Per the FCRA, criminal convictions can be reported indefinitely.
