Happy belated Thanksgiving all! Just wanted to share some recent publicity for the Baton Rouge Mid City Studio. Thank you to Alexis Rebennack and the LSU Daily Reveille for a wonderful write-up about the studio last Monday and to DIG Baton Rouge for sharing our success from White Light Night in your most recent issue (link below). Cheers!

I am incredibly proud of the hard work that my 4th and 5th year students in the community-design studio are doing this semester! Check out the entire project at http://www.midcitystudio.org/ and the studio's page at http://www.facebook.com/BRmidcitystudio
Each year, fourth and fifth year students from LSU work with the Mid City Redevelopment Alliance (MCRA) and the East Baton Rouge Redevelopment Authority (EBRRA) to identify a project, client and site. This year, the students are working with Southern University architecture students and our client is the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. The students are developing a program for a fresh produce market and café with a focus on workforce development. On Sunday, October 6, the students will host a community engagement event called Mid City Speaks which hopes to empower the citizens of Baton Rouge to share their thoughts, ideas and dreams for the places they live. At four locations (see map in the album), residents are encouraged to share their perspectives on particular issues related to this project. All of the input, along with some food and fun, will be shared with the community at Mid City Speaks at 1730 North Blvd and on the web at midcitystudio.org/midcityspeaks. The designs will be displayed at Lettermans's Blueprint at White Light Night on November 22.
