Tall Man Golf
Finally....clubs that fit tall golfers the way standard clubs fit the 5'8 guys, all while playing at standard swing weights. Perfect setup IS possible!
So.... We've recently had inquiries as to whether DEEZ NUTS balls are conforming, are on the USGA conforming list, and can be used in tournaments. Please read on, because it's three answers and ALL golfers should know the USGA Rule on this. It's an interesting rule that more people should be aware of, and the gist is that amateur players shouldn't be stressed out about whether they might be DQd over a relatively normal ball, even if it's not on the "conforming list", except at the very highest echelons of play. So please read, check out the rule in the link, and SHARE this post far and wide.
1. our balls are manufacturer-certified as fully conforming balls, as tested by Golf Laboratories, Inc in San Diego. Spec sheets are available upon request.
2. Under USGA rule 4.2 Part Three (on page 64 of the Rules of golf), the section entitled "The List of Conforming Golf Balls", manufacturers "may" submit balls to The R&A and USGA for testing and inclusion in the list, but are not required to do so. This process is expensive - $1,200-3,000 PER BALL DESIGN (even if it's the same ball with a different skin color) for initial certification, then upwards of $800 per year, per ball, to maintain each certification. For the mega-golf-moguls, spending $30,000+ annually for certification is no biggie, but it's a major expense for new entries into the market, and again, the rules make clear that inclusion on the list is NOT REQUIRED for conformity or legal play in any round, except perhaps at the very highest levels of professional and expert amateur tournament play, as will be seen below. When DEEZ NUTS reaches a market share capable of supporting this expense without significantly impacting the price of our balls or other areas of our business, we'll certainly consider it.
3. MOST IMPORTANTLY - USGA rule 4.2 Part Three (on page 64 of the Rules of golf) makes clear that: a) absent an express tournament "Term of Competition" restricting balls to only those on the a USGA Conforming a List, no such exclusion can apply. b) such a limiting Term of Competition should ONLY be used for professional play or "expert" play at "the highest levels of amateur competition" (e.g. US Amateur, etc); and c) you and DEEZ NUTS are entitled to a presumption of conformity in amateur events, "unless there is strong evidence to the contrary" (a ball that is demonstrably overweight or under-sized)
If an amateur tour (e.g. The Golfweek Amateur, etc) doesn't have a specific "Term of Competition" printed in its Manual or Rule Sheet, then no such exclusion applies, and players are entitled the presumption that whatever ball they want to play is conforming, absent "strong evidence to the contrary". Moreover, such a Term would be inappropriate under the Rules of Golf if it applied to anyone other than "experts at the highest level of competitive amateur golf" (US Amateur, etc). Players should feel free to question any inappropriate limitation under Rule 4.2 Part Three. Link posted below, see page 64.
Hope you'll enjoy DEEZ NUTS on your recreational AND tournament rounds, with confidence that the USGA RULES ARE ON YOUR, AND DEEZ NUTS' SIDE. 😜
