Uniquely Different - UD
We are an in-person social support group for adults with neurodivergent & neurological disorders. We meet monthly in the Baton Rouge area.
For now, there’s no July event planned for UD. Currently, prayers welcome. A recent medical curveball… one ER trip and the search for some answers are all on the founder’s shoulders.

Books for Boots is looking for homemade bookmarks to send to troops. I found this flyer with all the details. … A mission behind UD-Uniquely Different is volunteering in low-key, short-term but positive, fulfilling ways for our community. This is an example of such. Any age, any ability.

Passing this along for parents of younger kids. A friend invited me to share this with the public. It’s a neurodiversity summer camp for kids aged 6-12 held at the Manship Theater. It is free but registration is required. It’s being held from July 27-August 2, 2026.

For anyone interested in free, low-key live music, I suggest dropping by La Divina Italian Cafe on Sunday evenings from 5-7 pm. Different songwriters each play up to 3 of their own songs—some instrumental, others with lyrics. It’s soothing and a plus is there’s gelato available (as well as various cafe drinks and a great menu of cafe-style food). I went last Sunday and loved it.
Little Art Library in Baton Rouge has hidden treasures. This upcoming Saturday I’m doing something new. Offering a free group beginner knit lesson. I have a small supply of suitable yarn to share. Now, I have tons more thanks to Riché. Last Saturday’s pickup surprised me.

This summer in Denham Springs and Watson, the thrill to chill is here. Olivia’s Snowballs have weekly specials. (This post is not in collaboration with the business. I am just a fan).
On Saturday, June 20 from 1-4 pm is the next UD event day. There are two activity sessions. Tile Art and Yarn Day. The link to register is now live--please sign up. This event is designed for individuals with neurodivergent and neurological disabilities aged 16-45. Plus, parents and caregivers of any age.
There is no cost for either activity at this time. Donations are welcome. Laura's mom has contributed towards the costs for the Tile Art activity. For yarn day and the FREE beginning knitting lesson, I (Laura) will be offering it as a way to reduce stress and anxiety. I’ll have the tools and yarn on hand. Donations are welcome.
I’m trying to see if any local groups have yarn to donate as well as needles to help offset costs.
Lunch will not be provided or served on Saturday, June 20. Snacks if someone wants to bring them are welcome.

All Are Welcome is a part of the Catholic diocese of Baton Rouge and surrounding areas. It’s a great resource for families—parents, kids, and adults—with special needs incorporated into their lives. Various churches offer regular support groups. Different sites monthly offer a sensory-friendly mass. … this group is an inspiration to me. The power of a few moms wanting change coupled with one very devoted deacon. When I was growing up, I wish these moms existed. They did, but they weren’t moms yet.
