We are proud to share that Caleb will be awarded his posthumous degree during the Spring 2026 Commencement Ceremony, a meaningful recognition of his commitment and his journey.
He will always be part of this sound, this standard, and this legacy.

A FULL-CIRCLE LEGACY. A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS. 🔥🎺
The Southern University Department of Bands proudly announces the appointment of Mr. Jaron “Bear” Williams as Arranger for the Human Jukebox.
From beginning his musical journey at just nine years old as one of the first students of The Roots of Music, to marching in the legendary Human Jukebox, Mr. Williams has consistently embodied excellence.
At Southern University, he rose to serve as Trumpet Section Leader, guiding his section to earn Section of the Year, while also holding the distinguished role of Principal (First) Trumpet in the Wind Ensemble. His leadership and musicianship culminated in receiving the program’s highest individual honor, Bandsman of the Year.
His name has rung far and wide throughout band culture, respected, recognized, and synonymous with preparation, discipline, and elite performance.
He has shaped the next generation as Band Director of The Roots of Music and of the historic New Orleans All-Star Band, two programs with powerful legacies in music education.
Now, he returns to the Human Jukebox, not just as an alumnus, but as a creative leader helping shape the sound of the standard.
From Roots of Music to the Human Jukebox.
From Bandsman of the Year to Arranger.
The legacy continues. 💙💛

When the Mardi Gras called, the Human Jukebox answered.
From the first note to the final step, Mardi Gras felt like home because of YOU.
Through every parade route, every bridge, every turn, we showed up with the sound, the culture, and the energy that takes care of its people.
Thank you, New Orleans.
