A new article in Science Scope (published by the National Science Teaching Association) highlights a partnership between WISE researchers and middle school science teachers to create customizable curriculum materials and a professional development workshop model to foster teacher efficacy in incorporating social justice into science teaching.

The WISE group has embarked on an exciting new project that uses natural language processing AI technology to detect the rich ideas that students develop during everyday experience. Using ideas detected in student responses, NLP-TIPS designs adaptive, interactive guidance that prompts students to reconsider their own ideas and pursue deeper understanding.
