Ken Field, Karen Stackpole, and I did a concert together in Berkeley, CA in February 2019, and we recorded it (and liked what we heard).
Today marks the release of our collaborative trio recording, “Iridescence” on the Ravello Records digital label, which is a high quality mastered version of our concert. Ken has done the work of getting this thing out, and I really appreciate it. https://www.ravellorecords.com/catalog/rr8042
On this recording you’ll hear Karen playing her always amazing array of gongs, and all kinds of found and gathererd percussion, me on prepared piano (no Rhodes this time!) and Ken playing (sopranino sax, flute, and percussion).
If you don’t know Ken’s work, he is a member of the group, “Birdsongs of the Mesozoic” (a Boston-based rock/jazz/classical eclectic band), which is where I first heard him. He is also a prolific electronic music manipulator and composer. Karen Stackpole and I have performed together a number of times and I love hearing the dazzling array of timbres she comes up with from her racks of shiny metal thingees.
