Are you paying yourself and family members who work in your business reasonable compensation? The IRS requires compensation (including salaries, bonuses and perks) to reflect services performed and be comparable to compensation for similar roles in similar organizations. This is especially important for owner-employees and related parties. Payments to relatives may be deductible, but only if they represent reasonable wages for bona fide services and are well documented. Excess compensation may be reclassified as nondeductible distributions of income, while underpaying may raise payroll tax issues. Regularly reviewing compensation practices can help reduce audit risk. Call us at (888) 231-4738 for guidance.

One habit I see over and over again with agency owners...

They check their bank account before making almost every business decision.

Can I afford to hire?

Can I afford this software?

Can I afford to pay myself?

Can I afford to take on another contractor?

The problem is that your bank account only tells you where your business stands today. It doesn't tell you:

• Which projects are actually profitable.
• Which clients are paying late.
• What bills are coming due next month.
• Whether your business is becoming healthier or just busier.

Your bank balance is important—but it shouldn't be your financial strategy.

This week, I'm hosting a free workshop where we'll talk about why profitable agencies can still struggle with cash flow and the financial routine I use to help agency owners make decisions with more clarity and confidence.

What's the first thing you check before making a financial decision—your bank balance or your financial reports?

Why Agencies Can Be Profitable and Still Run Out of Cash 07/06/2026

"We're making money... so why does money still feel stressful?"

That's a conversation I have with creative agency owners all the time.

They're landing clients.

Projects are getting done.

Revenue is coming in.

But somehow, they're still checking their bank account before making every business decision.

Here's what I've learned:

The issue usually isn't that the business isn't making money.

The issue is that they don't have a consistent process for understanding where that money is going.

When you're relying on your bank balance instead of your financial reports, it's easy to feel uncertain—even when your agency is doing well.

That's exactly why I'm hosting a free workshop:

Why Agencies Can Be Profitable and Still Run Out of Cash

I'll share the four-step financial routine I teach agency owners to help them better understand their numbers, make more confident decisions, and spend less time wondering where the money went.

Why Agencies Can Be Profitable and Still Run Out of Cash You're not bad with money. Most agency owners were never taught how to interpret the financial data their business is generating. This works
