We provide qualitative research for academic institutions and non-profits! "The Data Bounty Hunter!"

05/19/2026

✨ Fun fact about me: I once worked as a Correctional Officer — and it shaped the way I show up in community research today.

That chapter of my life taught me the importance of discipline, listening, and seeing people beyond their circumstances. Every interaction reminded me that everyone has a story worth hearing.

Now, as a qualitative researcher, I carry those lessons with me every single day. Whether I’m sitting down for an interview or facilitating a focus group, I approach people with respect, patience, and an open mind — because trust and understanding are the foundation of real data.

It’s not just about collecting information. It’s about building relationships, amplifying voices, and making sure communities feel seen and valued.

💬I’m curious —What was an unexpected job or experience you’ve had that has completely shaped the way you work today? Drop it in the comments — I’d love to hear your journey!

Mental health conversations are important but real impact happens when communities are actually heard, supported, and invested in.

Because mental health isn’t just personal—it’s shaped by where we live, what we’ve experienced, how we’re resourced, and whether systems actually listen.

Over the past year, we’ve been doing the work behind the awareness:
-Listening to communities to understand how stigma and misinformation impact help-seeking
-Supporting violence prevention efforts rooted in trauma-informed care
-Bringing community-led insights into public health strategy
-Partnering across Birmingham to center lived experience—not just statistics

And one thing continues to guide us:
-We don’t call communities “hard to reach.”
-We ask better questions.
-Who hasn’t been heard?
-Who hasn’t been invested in?
-Who hasn’t been prioritized?

Mental health equity takes more than campaigns.

It takes trust. Presence. Consistency.

This month, we’re recommitting to that work—

listening deeply, collecting responsibly, and turning community voice into action.

Because data tells us what is happening.

Community tells us why.

If this resonates, share it. Someone in your network needs this perspective.

“Tomorrow, I may not be at the bus stop to pick you up.”

That’s what my parents said when the feds knocked at our door with a warrant and my grandparents arrived to take us.

I’ve never forgotten that feeling.

It’s my why behind Community Tracking Services—making sure our voices are heard and part of the decisions that impact us.

Now, I want to go further. If I win $25,000, I’ll create a data literacy program so communities can understand, question, and use their data to advocate for themselves.

We’ve literally been “feet in the streets” lately with all the community events CTS has been attending.

Grateful to have been in the room for the Forge AHEAD Scholars & Community Partners Showcase with Carol Agomo. From the Scholars Development Workshop to the Community & Research Showcase and evening reception, it was a full day connecting with folks across Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi who are all doing important work.

What I always come back to—this work is better when it’s done with community.

If you believe in that kind of impact, I’d appreciate your support 💛
