🚨🔥 ALABAMA V***R TAX ALERT – LAST CHANCE TO FIX THIS 🔥🚨
Today, our advocates are traveling to the Alabama State House to continue working toward a fix to the v***r tax before it takes effect.
📅 October 1 is coming fast.
⏳ And the legislative session is quickly coming to a close.
Once session adjourns, there will be no opportunity to adjust this policy before the tax goes into effect. The window to correct it is now.
Beginning October 1, Alabama will enforce a $0.10 PER MILLILITER excise tax on v***r products — on top of existing state and local sales taxes.
⚠️ In cities that passed local v**e taxes early, consumers will soon face DOUBLE taxation.
Here’s what lawmakers must understand:
💧 The tax is based on liquid volume — NOT ni****ne strength.
⬇️ Adults using lower ni****ne levels often purchase larger bottles — meaning they will pay the highest effective tax rates.
🚬 Alabama ci******es carry a $0.675 per pack state tax, yet moderate v***r consumers could pay significantly more under this structure.
📉 In a tough economy, this tax may push adults toward higher ni****ne concentrations to offset costs — or back to combustible ci******es.
This affects:
✔ Adult harm-reduction consumers
✔ Fixed-income residents
✔ Responsible Alabama small businesses
✔ Cities now facing stacked local + state taxes

🚨 AHVA MEMBERS — TAKE ACTION TODAY 🚨
Today, our team is traveling to Montgomery to continue critical conversations on v**e and h**p regulation reform to protect small businesses and preserve consumer choice. We need your voice reinforcing those discussions right now.
👉 Please contact your House and Senate representatives TODAY and share:
• How current regulations have impacted your small business or access to products you rely on
• Why the upcoming v**e tax (or existing local tax) will be the final regulatory burden forcing more Alabama businesses to close
• That Alabama still has little to no access to h**p products due to licensing red tape and a broken licensing structure requiring businesses to completely change their models just to stay compliant

01/14/2026
Today, the Alabama H**p and V**e Association (AHVA) heads back to Montgomery as the 2026 legislative session begins.
Every year, walking into the State House carries a mix of hope, resolve, and responsibility. We’re not here for headlines or politics-as-usual—we’re here for adult choice. Choice matters. It matters for adults who quit smoking through va**ng. It matters for adults who rely on h**p-derived products as part of their wellness routines. And it matters for small, locally owned businesses trying to operate responsibly and legally in Alabama.
Our industry exists because harm reduction works, because education works, and because adults deserve the freedom to make informed decisions about their own bodies—without being punished by overreaching or rushed regulations.
This session, we will continue to advocate for:
• ✔️ Reasonable, science-based regulations
• ✔️ Clear and fair licensing pathways
• ✔️ Protection of adult access to legal v**e and h**p products
• ✔️ The voices of consumers and small businesses being heard—not ignored
The work isn’t easy, but it’s necessary. And it’s fueled by every adult who believes personal responsibility and informed choice still matter.
We’re back. We’re engaged. And we’re fighting—for adult choice, for harm reduction, and for a future where Alabama gets this right.
