Hugged Stuffing
Making Cherished Friends for Precious Little Ones I've always loved soft, cuddly things.
I've kept my own doll with me. I take it to therapy sessions, and pack it around the house with me when I'm very overwhelmed. And I sleep with it. After a lifetime of abuse, and missing out on all the "normal" things of childhood, I guess I'm making up for lost time. And I'm giving myself now, what I should have had then.
This morning I woke up to find my doll on the floor. Apparently, I had kicked it out of bed as I slept, as if it was a burden in the way. I think that means the doll is doing its job, and I'm healing.
I'm not ready to lay it to rest yet. She'll still be sitting on my bed, and I'll be sleeping with her for a little while longer. It took a lot of long, hard work to get my doll back. I'm not letting it go without a fight.
