Hey I don't want your money. I want you to combat greed with me. You see there is this conglomerate housing company in Bluffton Indiana buying up all the houses, turning them into rental properties and jacking up the rent. They won't rent to first time renters without a cosigner. They are pricing out our youth and forcing them into the cities. Please help! Call them and let them know that "greed is violence."

Population growth is not “genocide.”

Saw this floating around on Facebook today and think it needs addressed. I hope the Huntington County GOP will publicly admonish it for the absolute trash that it is.

A map of population percentages doesn’t show “decimation” (or genocide). It shows a country that’s grown by about 225 million people since 1920, with immigration, birth rates, and mobility patterns shifting who lives where. Indiana population has grown by about 4 million people since 1920. Framing population growth as an attack on white people is just wrong and it’s designed to make neighbors afraid of each other. It’s meant to sow division, fear, and hate of our neighbors.

I spent 13 years working at FSSA, with families across every background from every county in Indiana. Throughout my life, I’ve interacting with community members from almost every background, living most of my life in Indiana. I spent 5 years of my childhood in Apache Junction AZ, growing up around native populations, while my parents worked at Motorola.

What I’ve seen and experienced is people who all want the same things: good jobs, fair utility bills, healthcare they can afford, affordable (and available) childcare, clean air & water, a community where their kids are safe, and to simply be left alone to live and worship as they wish.

Nobody’s dignity is a threat to anyone else’s.

Huntington, Wabash, Miami, and Wells counties are stronger when we look out for each other, period. Indiana is stronger when we look out for each other. We are weaker when we demonize and divide each other.

Greed is violence

I need a roommate. I'm currently unhoused because of the absurd rental situation in Bluffton. I can afford to rent a place, but no one wants to rent to me for I don't even know why. They won't tell me the reason.
