Balance is a path to mediocrity.
I'm sure there's plenty of people who will disagree with this. But hear me out. 'Balance' as I understand it is when you are managing multiple objects on a single fulcrum keeping them all supported so nothing falls. So to me, work-life balance looks like mingling work with life in an intermixed way so neither breaks down, but at the same time, with everything that needs 'balancing' with this approach, nothing gets the attention it needs to be fully developed.
Now imagine a different approach, where you only handle one object at a time, give it your full attention, then put it down to pick up another, and so forth. You provide intentional interactions with each and you are able to give all of your talents and abilities to the moment. This is performance management. This is where you get to demonstrate your full ability.
