to my creative peeps and/or creative adjacent peeps, whenās the last time you realized a concept that had lived rent-free in your head?
early last year, as I prepared for my first exhibit āIn Ernestā with at I got the opportunity to collaborate with to create these vintage feel stills that took me back to any of the lyrics by Dennis Brown, Chronicle, Ken Boothe, Phillis Dillon + the never ending list of early Reggae giants⦠stylized by the amazing , really took us there with this layered compilation as it almost immediately teleported us back to our rootsā¦
hereās to more of thisā¦

these photographs were made in a season of becoming,
between treatments, between breaths, between what was known + what was still unfolding.
pictured here my dear friend .marisol.norris sits on the steps of her kitchen, a place of daily rituals + quiet return
the black + white stills hold her softly, as living archive.
her smile is not a performance of strength.
it is rest.
it is presence.
it is a body choosing ease, even while carrying so much.
this series asks us to slow down + notice what tenderness looks like in real time. to honor the beauty that exists alongside uncertainty. to witness survival not as spectacle,
but as intimacy
over the years, through my works with ,
i have seen images become more than portraits, they are offerings. a reminder that our stories deserve to be held with care, that our bodies are worthy of being seen
in moments of softness,
in moments of pause,
in moments of becoming.
i invite you to sit with her.
to breathe with her.
to remember that healing is not linear + that beauty does not wait for permission.
