The Department of Justice’s investigation into E. Jean Carroll is a public example of the threats, intimidation, and dismissal survivors often face when disclosing abuse and pursuing accountability.

Even after two jury trials validated her account, E. Jean Carroll is still frequently described as the woman who “accused” Donald Trump. In our most recent blog, VRLC Executive Director Stacy Malone and Deputy Director of External Affairs Amanda Walsh wonder, “At what point does she become the woman who was sexually abused by Donald Trump?”

We stand with E. Jean Carroll, just as she has stood with survivors and supported our work at VRLC.

VRLC needs your voice to help prevent catastrophic consequences for survivors across the state! We are facing a devastating $500,000 cut to our Massachusetts legal services funding, putting critical legal support for hundreds of sexual assault survivors at risk.

This half-million dollar cut would leave over 300 sexual assault survivors without access to critical legal services - and that’s just this year!

The Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance (MOVA) has proposed a solution: The TRUST Fund, a permanent line item in the state budget that would help sustain victim services and protect survivor support programs statewide.

Senate budget debate began this week. There is still time to let your senators know that we must preserve survivors' services!

🚨Call your senators and ask them to cosponsor amendment #240 and ask Senate leadership to build amendment #240 into the final budget to support MOVA’s TRUST Line.

🚨Engage with media. Press releases, op-eds, letters to the editor, and contacting local media outlets about impacts of grant cuts is a great way to spread the word on the urgent need for a state investment.
