Ginormous Chicken

The PETS Act is a really big deal. It combines lots of really important animal welfare goals into one piece of legislation that would make a HUGE impact on animals and the people who love them in the Commonwealth.

The PETS Act has already passed the Senate and is now awaiting a vote in the House. Now is the time to make sure your representatives know how you feel!

If you live in Massachusetts, call your state representative today and urge them to support S. 3028: The PETS Act.

This important legislation would:

• Have Massachusetts join a growing number of states in banning the sale of dogs and cats in pet shops, while still allowing pet shops to operate and remain profitable by selling pet supplies and services and by partnering with shelters and rescues to showcase adoptable animals. 

• Prevent insurance companies from increasing rates or dropping policies based on how a dog looks.
 
• Help make pet ownership possible for people in state-aided public housing regardless of their dog’s size or how they look. **Nearly one in four animals surrendered to the MSPCA cite housing issues as the main reason- so this is HUGE!

• End the unnecessary use of animal test subjects for cosmetics and other household items while continuing to allow for medical research.
