A Gentle Reminder for Leaders, Coaches, & Women Holding So Much
This time of year can bring so much pressure to produce, show up more, give more, and hold more.
But I want to offer a completely different truth:
It’s okay to do less.
It’s okay to pause.
It’s okay to honor your limits.
Our energy isn’t meant to be stretched thin until we’re overwhelmed, confused, or burned out. The power of our Nurturing Guardian—is all about protection through values and boundaries. Not sacrifice. Not self-depletion.
During the holidays, I always come back to these questions:
-What do I value right now?
-What keeps me emotionally, physically, and spiritually well?
-What boundaries support harmony rather than hustle?
For me, the values often look like:
Harmony instead of chaos
Nurturing myself as much as I nurture others
Empowering others rather than doing it all myself
And I’ll share a personal moment: There was a time when I used to take on everything for the holidays—meals, gifts, cleaning, hosting, planning, every detail. I didn’t even realize how exhausted and resentful I was becoming. I thought my value was in doing.
One year, I decided to do something different. I set the boundary, early and clearly:
“I’m happy to host, but I’m not doing it alone anymore. I want this to be a shared experience.”
And something beautiful happened: People offered support. They brought dishes. They cleaned. They helped create the day. The burden became a shared energy field. Instead of running the show, I got to be part of it.
I didn’t just survive the holiday—I enjoyed it. I felt connected, nourished, and present.
That’s what our nurturing guardian wants for us:
Shared responsibility. Nourishment. Community.
Not carrying the whole load alone.
So if your mind or your body is telling you to simplify this season…
Trust that wisdom.
You don’t have to prove your strength through more doing.
Your leadership is in how you honor your boundaries and values.
Here’s an invitation for this season:
Say no where it’s draining.
Say yes where it nurtures.
Allow others to step in and support.
And most of all…
Give yourself permission to show up as a Guardian—not a martyr
