48 hrs of meals as a busy acupuncturist ☼

With many there is an assumption that “dietary changes” means restriction.

For me, a TCM diet is the best I’ve ever eaten, the best I’ve ever felt. It truly tastes so good.

How does this food make me feel?
Does it feel good to eat?
Does it improve or worsen my symptoms?

An acupuncturist or TCM practitioner can help you determine what your imbalances are and what foods to do more of and what foods to do less of.

The majority of your diet should be foods that support and nourish your digestion and body as a whole.

And - everything in moderation; including moderation.

The point is to enjoy your health and live life more fully through that health

Clinical Pearls: “I didn’t even realize I had started my period.”

I love hearing this.
This is when I know we have made it.

Where did we start?
Patients will come in with:
· mild to debilitating cramps
· clotting
· irregular cycle (length)
· spotting
· Mild to severe mood changes around menstruation
· bloating
· digestive irregularity around menstruation
· menstrual migraines/headaches
· infertility
· PCOS/Endometriosis
· Etc.

How do I work with this?
· acupuncture
· herbs
· moxa
· cupping
· electrostimulation
· lifestyle recommendations
· dietary recommendations

With Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine we can change your cycle.

How we accomplish this:
· improved blood flow
· hormone balancing (from the level below hormone production: organ function)
· decreased stress
· improved digestion
· improved sleep

TCM conceptualizes the “Perfect Period” as:
· 28-30 day cycle
· regularity (timing)
· Starts and ends without spotting
· bleeding for 3-5 days
· red color, syrupy consistency
· (not bright red/very dark/brown/purple etc.)
· no clots
· no cramps to mild discomfort
· little to no mood changes
· no breast pain/distension
· neither excessively light or heavy bleeding

This typically takes at least several cycles

Your cycle will likely fluctuate for several months while your body does what it needs to do to find balance. Menstruation is a detoxification pathway.

This takes consistency and trust. But it is oh-so-worth it because your cycle is a vital sign for your overall health.

Even if you’ve always suffered from painful periods/endo/PCOS your cycle can change.

I’ve been there. I now have the “perfect period” most months.

However, if I have a bad month, or deal with a lot of stress, it becomes slightly imperfect. And that tells me where I need to put in the work to get it back.
