🐾 There are a lot of pet expert accounts on social media, and I’m grateful every time someone chooses to spend a few seconds here.
I created this page for one reason: to help pet parents make confident, informed decisions based on science, not trends.
🩺 I’ve wanted to be a veterinarian since I was 6 years old, and that passion has only grown. Whether we’re talking nutrition, behavior, preventive care, sporting dogs, or helping our pets live longer, healthier lives, my goal is always the same: give you honest, practical information you can actually use.
If that sounds like the kind of content you’re looking for, I’m so glad you’re here.
And if you’ve been following along for a while, thank you. Your comments, questions, and trust mean more than you know. ❤️
What’s one topic you’d love to learn more about next?

👩⚕️ As a veterinarian, I spend a lot of time talking about the things that help our dogs live longer and healthier lives. Nutrition. Exercise. Preventive care. Dental health. Maintaining a lean body condition. Mental enrichment.
Those things matter. A lot.
But every once in a while, Finn reminds me that the goal isn’t simply to add years to their lives. It’s to fill those years with moments that matter.
The early morning walks.
The muddy paws.
The quiet rides in the truck.
The games of fetch that last longer than planned.
The way they rest their head on your leg at the end of the day.
Those ordinary moments become the memories we carry forever.
So if you’ve been waiting for the “perfect” day to take the extra walk, explore a new trail, toss one more bumper, or simply sit together on the porch, this is your reminder.
Make time for what matters. Your dog already is.
❤️ If your dog has made your life better, tell me one of your favorite ordinary moments together.

Family, fun and good food.
I’m not sure my hair could survive living in Louisiana again but I sure love the feeling of “coming home” when I’m back there.
Core memory loading. . .

🙋♀️ Hi. It’s me. I’m the problem…
This may be surprising but as a veterinarian I don’t think “table scraps” are off limits—with a few guardrails.
1. Anything outside their complete and balanced diet should only be 10% of their calories. This is to keep their overall nutrition in the right ratio of nutrients and help keep them lean.
2. The snack is pet safe. No 🍫, 🍇, raisins, garlic, onions, xylitol, etc.
3. The snack isn’t overly rich in fats and spices.
4. Your pet doesn’t have a sensitive stomach.
So yes, my “nephew,” August Francis quickly realized I was the weak link when I visited my sister and we formed an alliance 😉
