I don’t know what I would do without color. I am not someone who could live in an all beige or gray house. I appreciate the calm that those colors must bring, but I don’t feel alive until I have bright all around me. Right now I feel especially in need of vibrant colors.They are reminders that there is so much beauty and creativity in this world despite how awful it feels sometimes.

I am feeling very much like a work in progress. Like a human in progress. There’s so much happening in our country and in the world, not to mention in my life. Feeling very ungrounded, but also remembering that movement is always there and change is always coming. So keep going. Keep painting. Keep making. Keep dancing. And goodness don’t do it alone. Reach out to your people. Solitude is one of my favorite things but isolation sucks. Remember, you always have power to change one tiny thing. And one tiny thing can lead to a cascade of beauty.

Taking an actual painting class. It’s so different from the way I work because I’m trying to actually draw something. I’ve already learned so much that can serve me in my work with the expressive arts. And I’m having so much fun!

I’ll admit that I was very nervous starting this class because I’m one of the many many adults who thinks I can’t draw. I know that I get to make art. I know that everyone is allowed to make art. But I’m so processed based that I never try to draw something realistic. This is definitely taking me out of my comfort zone and that is a really important thing to do. My creativity will be very grateful!

I am lucky. I have had the space and support over many years to create a life I love. I get to spend time each day in a nurturing creative practice that feeds me, heals me, and nourishes my continued growth.

I am passionate about helping women do the same thing. To prioritize their own self-discovery and growth. To figure out what they want their lives to look like and move towards that. To embrace all parts of them. To embrace the power of art and creative expression as a tool for healing and transformation.
